I am a professor at the Initiative for the Theoretical Sciences at the CUNY Graduate Center, with appointments in Biology and Physics. I am also core faculty at the Center for the Physics of Biological Function, an NSF funded Physics Frontiers Center joint between Princeton and CUNY.

  • Sept. 2018: We were awarded an R01 Brain Initiative grant from the NIH.
  • Sept. 2018: Our paper on promoting cooperation/competition via info. regularization was accepted to NIPS 2018.
  • March 2018: Our review paper on machine learning for physicists is now online with accompanying notebooks.
  • Oct. 2017: The NSF has established one of 11 Physics Frontiers Centers joint between Princeton and CUNY.
  • Aug. 2017: I was named a Simons Investigator in the Mathematical Modeling of Living Systems.
  • Dec. 2016: Our paper using quantum-inspired tensor networks for machine learning was presented at NIPS 2016.
